Frequently Asked Questions:
In short, yes. While we may not have what most would consider to be your typical homeless population we do have a number of homeless families within the borders of Blount Co. Throughout the average school year there will be 100 children that have a housing crisis of some sort. This could be anything from having to sleep in a car to living in a small home with another family, which can sometimes be illegal and many times be unsafe. In the state of Tennessee there are nearly 10,000 homeless children in any given year, and the number is rising. Since Blount County has no other solutions for people in this situation and families are often pushed to one of Knoxville's shelters, Family Promise rescues families from the rescue mission.
